Less Paper and More Efficiency
We've seen it all before. Physician offices filled with stacks and stacks of paperwork. Regulatory agencies, specifically in California, requiring more and more documentation. Paper medical record folders, stuffed to the brim and piled high to the ceiling, with myriad clinical and administrative data. A patient chart must be made available to everyone who needs access to it -- administrative staff, nurses, physician assistants, and physicians.This means the time-consuming and often redundant process of searching for files, delivering files, tracking them, re-filing, and printing and faxing clinical and administrative documents.

Brown & Toland Medical Group will provide all of its community-based physician offices the opportunity to use the Allscripts Healthcare Solutions TouchWorks electronic medical record (EMR) product. TouchWorks provides relief from the administrative burden of paper management and puts vital patient information in an electronic format.

The EMR, TouchWorks, can eliminate medication errors, reduce lost charges, and improve office workflow.The product integrates with Flowcast and features several modules addressing important clinical functions within physician office practices, including:

• Clinical results
• Note taking
• Dictation
• e-prescribing

In the first implementation stage, Brown & Toland will roll out clinical results reporting at no cost to all BTMG community-based physicians.The EMR is available in separate modules, so physicians may implement additional modules as they see fit. These additional modules are available for a fee.
