Brown & Toland’s Find a Doctor Tool: A Tutorial
Brown & Toland’s updated Find a Doctor online tool makes it faster to search for doctors and facilities in the Brown & Toland network—from primary care doctors to top specialists to urgent care centers and labs nearby. You can search and filter based on what matters most to you—all in an improved online search tool.
To better serve patients and their families, Brown & Toland Physicians recently undertook an extensive website redesign and restructure. With feedback provided from physicians and patients, we built and launched the new Find a Doctor site with the goal of continuously improving its functionality and usefulness – all to help you find the right care, at the right place at the right time.
As we continue down that path, here is how to use the ever-evolving Find a Doctor tool.
Searching for a Primary Care Physician
To get started, go to www.brownandtoland.com/doctor
If you are searching for a primary care physician, choose the “Select a Specialty” drop-down menu. To choose a PCP, be sure to select Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN). See the descriptions of each of these below.
- Family practice: A family practitioner one doctor who can provide primary care for every member of the family, no matter their age.
- Internal medicine: Internal medicine physicians, also called internists, specialize in diagnosing, treating and preventing disease in adult patients. They usually don’t follow children or provide women’s health services.
- Pediatrics: Pediatricians treat children up to 18 years of age and are experts in child development. Pediatricians occasionally continue working with a patient into young adulthood.
- OB-GYN providers: These providers specialize in women’s health, including common primary care for women of childbearing years, such as routine pelvic exams, conducting Pap smears and counseling about family planning.
To Search by Practice Name
Click on “Enter Doctor’s Office Name” and enter the name of the practice.
To Search by Location
You can search for a provider close to your home, your workplace or anywhere throughout the Bay Area. Simply enter the ZIP code and providers closest to that location will appear. Note: To open several physician profiles simultaneously, hold down “Ctrl” on your PC (or Command on a Mac) and click on the result. This will open a new tab with the doctor’s profile without losing your current page of results.
